

Maria Cantu Navarrette was born on September 29, 1912, in Mexico. A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called home to our Heavenly Father on her birthday Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at the age of 103. She is the last surviving child of the seven children born to Andrea Rodriguez and Luis Rogerio.
Cherished and admired by so many for her warmth and inexhaustible caring, along with a keen practical wisdom, and firm faith in God, her presence lives on in the hearts of all those lucky enough to have known her. Her positive attitude and determination in life are a true inspiration to her family and fellow friends.
She will be reunited with sons, Juan Cantu, Guillermo Cantu, and Anthony Cantu in heaven.
Maria's spirit is carried on by children, Carmen Pirozzi, Andrea Goesch, Beto Cantu, Lillie Alcoser, and Alfredo Cantu; 15 adoring grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relations and friends from every walk of life.
Visitation will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns and Blair Funeral Home on Thursday, October 1, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., followed by a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Cathedral, on Friday, October 2, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
