Mary was born on February 2nd, 1933 to Benedict and Magdalene Fettig in Napoleon, ND . After graduating from Napoleon High School she moved to Bismarck ND and went to work for Montana Dakota Utilities.
In 1953 Mary met a dashing military man and the following year she married him. Floyd and Mary were married 42 years. They started their married life living in Bismarck and had 3 bouncing boys. In 1961 they lost their oldest son David to leukemia. Soon after they completed their family with a little girl and decided to move out to Fresno CA where Floyd was from and had family waiting for them.
They started farming and to help support the family Mary went to work at St. Agnes Medical Center. She went on to work there for 30 + years, going from phone operator to business adminstration. We used to call the hospital St. Mary's saying they couldn't get along with out her but of course they did.
Mary worked while raising her kids but more then made up for it by loving on her grandkids. She was at most games and events the grandkids were in, picking them up after school, babysitting most days and helping out anyway she could. When the great grandkids came along it was pudding on the cake, she was in her glory with a baby on her lap.
She and Floyd had a lot of trips planned after retirement and even though his illness cut short those plans, they were able to enjoy a few including some trips back to North Dakota. She also enjoyed a good gambling trip and her and Geneva tore up the roads giving Thelma and Louise a run for their money.
Mary was preceeded in death by her husband Floyd, her son David, her parents and 6 siblings. She is survived by her children Dennis Mehling, Dwayne Mehling, and Davonne Yada ( Mike). Her 8 grandchildren Jeremy Mehling (Britney), Jaime Schulze (Lewis), Jennifer Sanchez (Daniel), Robert Mehling (Natalie), Samantha Mehling, Clifton Yada (Elana), Clayton Yada (Stephanie), Clinton Yada (Stacy) and 14 and 1\2 great-grandchildren.
We would like to send our graditude to the staff at Pacifica Senior Living who went above and beyond in their care for our mother.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.whitehurstsullivan.com for the Mehling family.
