my great grandma was the best person anyone could ever meet. she was light to anyone day when there day was dark. we all will remember her as a mother figure to anyone who was in her family and out. we all miss her deeply and she will never be forgotten by anyone. we love you. your loving family, the Mosley's. 

We were truly blessed to have Mary in our lives. Mary Mosley made the world a better place simply because she was in it. Mary was a loving, kind, loyal, giving and accepting person. Mary had a quite inner strength and gentility about her. Mary also had a powerful influence on others especially children. Mary left a lasting impression that will last a lifetime in all us who knew her. Mary Mosley was the epitome of what a true friend really is. One of her lifelong friends was my mother, Esther Hughes Shattuck-Schmitt. Mom met Aunt Mary shortly after she and Junior came to Fresno, Ca. in 1955. They and Mom were in their late teen's & early twentys. Their bond grew when Uncle Junior asked Mom to go to the hospital with them when Mary had her first born, Debra. I think he needed Mom's support  far more than Aunt Mary did. Yes, he was a little nervous. At that time neither Aunt Mary, Uncle Junior nor my Mom had family in Fresno, Ca. They all were so very young and just starting out in the world.  Mom said to me this week, How do I even begin to find or express words of my history and friendship with Mary that spanned more than 60 years?  So here I write one of the most important memories Mom and I both have and want the world to know about Mary Mosley.  Mary was so much more than just a loving wife, mother, daughter, sibling and friend. Imagine if you will the mid  60's and 70's where the economy and society were changing at an unbelievable pace. The 60's were life changing for all who lived in the United States. The Beatle's, Equal Rights, Women's Lib, Race Riot's and the Viet Nam War were just a few of those life changing events. The difference in life style's between the 50's and 60's was dramatic. It was especially time changing for women! Especially women who as children had survived the great depression.  Both Mary and Esther were born in Oklahoma and were children during the depression, I'm sure when they met in California through family this was the connection that started their friendship.  Mary Mosley had courage as did Mom, they both had the inner strength to execute and follow through on their life goals.  And this in the mid 60's is where Mary's and my mother's Esther's friendship deepened and enter-twined. One could say they both were born ahead of their time. One could say and I will say these two women were leaders! They were intelligent women. They both decided to further their education and go to college. You must understand that this was not easy in the mid 60's early 70's especially for mother's who were raising children and both of them were.  Of course Uncle Junior, Aunt Mary's husband encouraged these ladies in this endeavor.  As I said these ladies were leaders and they led by example!   During this time they encouraged and mutually supported each other through the trials of raising a family all the while attending school. This is where both Mary Mosley and Esther influenced not only their children, but equally as important other women. At this point in time unless a woman was educated and trained in a higher paying vocation the most they could earn in a 40 hour work week was about $50.00. Yes, $50.00 dollars a week!  That simply was not palatable. So, Mary chose to pursue a nursing degree and became an LVN.  Esther chose to go for a criminology degree and became a probation officer.  Yes, those were some lean years during this time and that in and of itself made it tough on these two Mom's. But go to school they did and graduated too!  They made themselves proud. They made each other proud. They made their children proud. Most of all they made Uncle Junior proud. Right then, right at this moment in time Mary Mosley and Esther helped pave a road few women really believed they could go down, especially mother's with familys!   Mary Mosley was a leader in her own right and was one of the first to show all women they could not only gain a higher education, enter the work force but successfully nurture their family simultaneously.  That is quite an achievement and deserves recognition!    
You Aunt Mary will be sorely missed by me, my mother. your loved one's and so many other's.

Mary was always such a kind and funny lady. She was endlessly accepting of her foster son Jeff and all his friends. I'll miss her.

Such a wonderful and kind woman.  She loved her family with all her heart. She was wise beyond her years.  She was a light to everyone.  Know that we are praying for each of you.

Aunt Mary was an extraordinary woman who brought love and light to many lives.  She will be sorely missed by many.  We pray that God will bless you all with the strength and comfort that only He can give.  Cletus and I would love to be there with you all at this most difficult time, and we are there in spirit.  Love to all Mary's family and friends.

To the Family of Mary Mosley,  Monte grew up with such fond memories of your entire family.  You treated the entire Hough/Stuart family as if they were your own and made life changing effect on us all.  Your Dad, Mom and Larry hold a very special place in both our hearts.  We wish we could be there for you now as you face the days ahead.  We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers from afar. In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always Aunt Mary. I have rarely seen my Mom, Esther   cry in my 62 years with her, but she has this week. She loved you Aunt Mary as I and my entire family does. She is 83 years old now and has tried several times to write to your children this week about her great friendship with you..she can not get the words out. Her history with you is long since you both were in your early 20's. That friendship began in about 1955 or there about's. Mom was with you  & Uncle Jr. at the hospital in Fresno when you had Debbie. You were with Mom when she had Kelly. During the mid 60's your friendship with Mom and her's with you just grew deeper. There were some tough times in those early years and my Mom (Esther) just said to me yesterday, "I don't know if I could have made it during that time without Mary Mosley as my friend!" She loved you then and she loves you now Aunt Mary. You Aunt Mary lived kindness in every sense of the word. I will always cherish my visit with you just last June and will forevermore, be thankful I made that visit! I did not realize then it would be the last time I would see you or feel your loving arms around my shoulders here on earth. But, I did get to tell you exactly how much you mean't to me and Mom. Exactly how much we cherished your friendship to us. I thanked you then and I thank you now. Mary you were one, "Great Lady" here on earth and you made it a better place to live in simply because you were in it. I know your now a, "Great Angel" in heaven. Love, Esther & Kathy
