Mee “Ying” Fang Yang, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away on January 29, 2025, in Anaheim, California. Born on October 2, 1951, in Laos, she was the cherished daughter of Ntsum Vwg Vaaj and Maiv Yaaj. Often said to have inherited
her father’s striking features, Ying embodied strength, resilience, and boundless love throughout her life.
As the eldest of two children, Ying faced the profound loss of her father before the birth of her younger sister, Mee. Their mother later married Nou Yeng Fang, who welcomed Ying and her sister, raising them in HoiChuang, Laos. Their family grew with the birth of their younger brother, Pao Fang, forging bonds that would last a lifetime.
Ying’s life was a testament to perseverance and love. Her first marriage to Kou Yang brought them a son, whose life was tragically brief. Despite the sorrow, Ying and Kou pressed forward, later migrating to Thailand. As their lives took different paths, Ying eventually married Pang Doua Hang, with whom she built a loving family, raising six children together.
Following the passing of Ying’s parents, her younger brother, Pao, pursued his career in America as an educator and advocate for Lao refugees. Through his sponsorship, Ying and her family found a new home in the United States, moving often before eventually settling in California. Ying dedicated much of her life to farming, caring for her family, and working for EMS Wireless for nine years before retiring in Stockton.
Ying will always be remembered for her nurturing spirit, unwavering strength, and the warmth she shared with everyone she met. She found immense joy in nature, particularly in tending to her cherished green plants. Her adventurous heart led her to
travel and embrace life’s experiences with humor, grace, and an open soul. Above all, she treasured the presence of her children and grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience.
After a courageous seven-day battle in the hospital, Ying found eternal peace in the embrace of our Heavenly Father. She is reunited in spirit with her beloved husband, Pang Doua Hang, who passed on May 25, 2022, and her dear brother, Pao Fang, who
passed on October 21, 2024.
Ying is lovingly remembered by her devoted children and their spouses: Choua and her husband, Chia Xiong; Shoua and her husband, Alan Ly; Yeu and her partner, Ian Seabock; Nellie and her husband, Isaiah Vang; Cheng; and Who and his wife, Johnna. She
also leaves behind her eight beloved grandchildren: Maneesha Moua, Jerrin Xiong, Aaron Ly, Trissen Xiong, Hannah Ly, Tannon Xiong, Ethan Vang, and Cohen Hang, as well as her dear sister, Mee Hurh.
Her love also extended to her favorite fur babies—Luna, Leo, Skyler, the cat pack, and Pebbles, Suzie, Stella, and Truffles, the dog pack—who brought her endless joy and companionship.
Ying’s love, strength, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Her legacy of warmth, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family will continue to inspire generations to come.
