Regina was born in Aurora Mo, but spent most of her life in Fresno, CA. She attended Roosevelt High School in Fresno. Her parents were Paul Harter and Ruth Harter/Minsch and her stepfather was Irvin Minsch.
Regina was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, a granddaughter Dorinda Matter, and 2 great granddaughters. She is survived by her 3 children Jannifer Tipton and her husband Stephen Tipton of Fresno, Ca. Gina Matter and her husband Joseph Matter of Clovis, Ca. Jesse McGill of Fresno, Ca., 5 grandkids and 10 great grandkids along with many nieces, nephews whom she cherished, and one sister Carolyn Fletcher of Hanford, Ca.
Regina attended Catholic school in grade school in Wichita, Ks. She sang in the choir at school and church. She was a member of the Catholic Youth Association, a volunteer at church as a young girl, cleaning the church, setting up the altar, and helping the Nuns in the school.
Regina spent 50 years working in the bakery as a baker, cake decorator, and a bakery manager. She started out at Safeway and eventually worked for Costco where she retired in 2020. Prior to that she was a seamstress for Hagar Slacks. She was a very talented woman. She used the experiences of these two industries in her personal life, as well. She decorated many beautiful wedding cakes for multiple family members, not to mention, all the amazing birthday cakes for her children, parents, nieces and nephews. She sewed her daughter’s dresses for holidays, special events like prom and even a wedding dress. She sewed little suits for her son when he was a small boy. Multiple matching outfits for her girls and some nieces. She was always willing to sew bridesmaids and flower girl dresses. There was even a time when Regina and her oldest granddaughter were in a wedding and of course she made them matching dresses.
Regina had a large extended family, every holiday, birthday, graduation, and milestones in the family were always celebrated with lots of food, family, and friends. She, her sisters, and sister-in-law always switched off hosting events. This tradition was passed on to her daughters and grandkids.
Regina’s co workers were always welcomed with open arms by her. She loved working and the people she worked with. She would come home and tell her family stories about her work friends, by the time she would get done you felt like it was another family member. She loved gardening; flowers were her passion. She always had an arrangement in every room in the house rather it was silk or real. Let’s all remember her black convertible mustang, her grandkids got the biggest kick out of seeing Mammy as they called her, drive up to the house with the top down and asking if they wanted to go for a ride. At Christmas time you always knew who your gift was from just by the big bows she would make and attach. Her grandkids called her Mammy and eventually most people did too. She always made an entrance when walking in a room or at a public event, her smile and laughter was contagious.
Regina will be missed by so many.
Jannifer, Gina, and Jesse (JD) would like to thank everyone who loved and prayed for our mother. May Mom rest in peace with her family that is waiting for her in Heaven.
