Rodney Rod Edwin Van Kirk

He was born on September 1, 1931, in Washington County, KS. After graduation from high school in Kansas, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. He returned to Fresno to enroll in Fresno City College as an education major. He earned his teaching degree at Fresno State College and began his teaching career for Fresno Unified School District. He taught English and History at Wawona Middle School for 29 years. While attending Fresno City College, he met his future wife, Jequita "Quita" Marie DeWitt, and they were married for 56 wonderful years.

Rod was preceded in death by both parents, Edwin and Otilla Van Kirk; a brother Jay; and sisters, Virginia and Roberta.

He is survived by his cherished wife Quita, of Fresno; and his daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Richard Moshier of Sunnyvale, CA. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Rodney's Life will be held at Woodward Park Church of Christ on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 9:30 a.m.
