He joined the United States Marine Corps at 17, returning to the Fresno area when his enlistment ended in 1947. In 1949 he met and married his wife and life partner Isabel Armendariz Lucero. Rudy and Isabel celebrated 70 years of love and commitment to one another on August 16, 2018.
Rudy was a vocational nurse at VMC Hospital retiring after 33 years of employment.
Rudy is survived by one brother and one sister as well as his son Thomas D. Lucero and his wife Linda and they reside in Virginia, he is also survived by daughter-in-law Marcy wife of deceased son John D. Lucero. Marcy resides in San Bernardino, California.
His loving family grew to two grandsons, three step-grandsons, one great granddaughter and three step- great grandchildren.
A good man, good husband and father and a good friend, he will be missed by all who loved him or knew him.
A Viewing will be held at Tinkler Funeral Chapel & Crematory on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
A Funeral Service will be held at Tinkler Funeral Chapel & Crematory on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Fresno Memorial Gardens.
A Celebration of his remarkable life will follow at the home of Alice Bernier.
