November 29, 1968, to January 30, 2020.
Shannon was born to Robert R. and Deborah D. Potter (Besecker). Shannon was preceded in death by her nephew, Zachary Reynolds Armistead, all of her grandparents, maternal aunts, and her uncle Richard Potter. Shannon was married to the one true love of her life, Mark Williquette for over 26 years. Mark always found strength in her love for him. They were true soulmates. Shannon’s daughter, Samantha Lynn Nelson, filled her heart with a kind of love that Shannon could not describe with words, it was an energy she felt throughout her soul.
Shannon is survived by her husband, Mark, her daughter Samantha, her mother Deborah, her sister Kimberley Rush and husband Rob, her nephew Jack C. Armistead II and wife Brisa, her nephew Colton Lewelling, and her niece Haylie Lewelling. Shannon’s surviving maternal relatives are her cousins Colleen Marlette, Juli Jackson, Summer Davis, April Velarde, Bruce Hawthorne, and all of their spouses and children. Shannon’s surviving paternal relatives are her cousins, Brandon, Robert, Eric, Daniel, Cameron, Damian, and Evan Potter, James, Colleen and Eirean Cunningham and her aunt Babette (Babs) Cunningham (Potter), and all of their spouses and children. Shannon is survived by her husband’s family including her mother-in-Law Mary Williquette-Schlect, Bob Willliquette, Chris Williquette and spouse Karen, Cindy Barragan and spouse Greg, Rusty Williquette and spouse Sandy, Lindy Avedisian and spouse Aaron, Perry Williquette, and numerous nieces and nephews. Shannon is also survived by her father, Robert R. Potter and her uncles Guy and Curtis Potter.
In addition to Shannon’s love for her “circle”, Shannon had dedicated her life to protecting those that could not protect themselves. Over the course of her life, Shannon rescued thousands of animals from horrendous conditions. She fostered them, she adopted them, she fought for them. She did without so that helpless animals could have love and dignity in their lives. The human relationships Shannon developed were intentional, not consequential. If she cared, you knew it. As she would say many times when ending a conversation, Have a Groovy Day Man.
A reception will be held to celebrate Shannon’s life on Sunday, February 23, 2020, in Fresno, CA.
The venue limits space, so please contact Kimberley Rush, Cindy Barragan, or any other relative you know by February 16th if you’d like to attend.
