

On May 29, 1971 she married Akira Matsubara, the couple enjoyed traveling together to Japan, China, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Hawaii and throughout the United States. They enjoyed
taking cruise ship travel with their many friends to Puerto Rico, Canada, Alaska and Mexico. Sally was employed by Pacific Telesis Group, acquired by AT&T Corp, known as Pacific Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1992. Many people remember Sally and Akira traveling and gambling in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Reno, and Chukchansi Casino. Sally’s greatest joy was spending every Friday evening, singing Japanese Karaoke songs at Tokyo Garden and Daruma Tei Japanese Restaurant.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Masaichi and Kiyo Iwozawa; sisters Betty Miyakawa, Nancy Komoto, and Suzie Iwozawa; and brother Masami Iwozawa. She will always
be remembered by her giving heart of kindness and love, her laughter, and always a beautiful big smile. Shizuko Sally Matsubara will be missed, yet leaves a legacy of many fond memories
and 55 wonderful years of marriage to Akira.
Sally is survived by husband Akira Matsubara of Fresno. She is survived by her brother-in-laws George and Roy Matsubara; and sister-in-law Barbara Nakagawa; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at The Fresno Betsuin Buddhist Temple, 2690 E. Alluvial, Fresno, Ca. 93720 on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2:00 p.m
