

Sylvia was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John and Anna Phillips on September 10, 1916; both were immigrants to America from Romania. She graduated from Manual Technical High School (Indianapolis) and married her high school sweet heart, Wilbur "Bus" Patrick in 1940. Sylvia and Bus lived their entire 50 years of married life in Indianapolis. Both were active at the Indianapolis Times as well as the Indianapolis Star during the 500 Mile Race.
They both converted to Catholicism in 1946 and were active members of their parish, St. Monica's. Sylvia was a homemaker and her artistic talents were obvious in her interior decorating, stitchery, sewing and Rumanian cooking.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Richard Kunz; her three grandchildren, Dr. Ann-Maura Cervantes and her husband Christopher, Karl W. Kunz and his wife Marcie and Heidi Colleen Kunz. She was able to enjoy her three great grandchildren during her lifetime, Abbey Loren Kunz, Drake Patrick Cervantes, and Pierce Kenrich Kunz.
A Memorial Service will be held at Whitehurst, Sullivan, Burns & Blair Funeral Home on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Indianapolis, Indiana, preceding her interment in early February.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hinds Hospice of Fresno.
