

Jane passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2012, in Fresno, Ca. Born March 13, 1921, to Rose Annette Rapp and Lars Henry Bertken in Fresno, Ca. Viola Jane Bertken was known and loved by many as Jane.
Jane had deep roots in the Central Valley and surrounding areas of Mariposa, Oakhurst and, Bass Lake. She was happiest when traveling the world, helping others, doing her crafts, and spending time with friends and family. Some of her many accomplishments included her years of service in Soroptomist International, a successful career in real estate, obtained EMT II certification, and was instrumental in getting the ambulance service started for the Oakhurst/Bass Lake area. Jane also served as a Madera County Deputy Sheriff. She was heavily involved in bringing Yosemite High School into the community and also served on the school board. Jane was Past High Priestess of Atarah Court, No. 56, Ladies Oriental Shrine.
Jane is survived by Hollon O. Kinney, her husband of 20 years; her son, Donald Blask; her daughter-in-law, Linda Blask of Klamath, Ca.; her daughters, Karen Acrement of Portland, Or. and Jeanie Slayton of Klamath, Ca.; her sister, Helen Manson of Idaho; as well as 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
