

Walter Fung M.D. passed away peacefully on November 5, 2015, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family. He is now in the arms of his Lord.
Born and raised in Fresno, he graduated from Edison High School and Fresno State. He received his D.O. degree from California College of Medicine and his M.D. from University of California, Irvine. He had a successful internal medicine and gastroenterology practice in Fresno for 55 years. After retirement, he provided free care for undeserved populations in Fresno at the Tzu Chi clinic. He also led medical missions to Asia. He loved his patients and they loved him as well.
Walter was an avid golfer, tennis player and fisherman. He served on the Board of the First Chinese Baptist Church in Fresno, as well as being a deacon and the Chairman of the church building committee. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lok-chin and Quin Ying Jung; and his siblings, Violet, Lilly, Nellie, Herbert, Edward and Allen.
Walter is survived by his loving wife Barbara: siblings, Vera Fong, Rosie Fong, and David Fung: son, Mitchell Fung: son, Martin Fung, and Michael Hughes; daughter, Megan Iwersen and her husband Renato: and cherished grandchildren, Alexander, Caroline, and Michael Fung, and Henry and Thomas Iwerwen.
Visitation will be held at Stephens and Bean Chapel on Friday, November 13, 2015, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First Chinese Baptist Church, 6080 N. Angus Street, Fresno, CA, on Saturday, November 14, 2015, at 11:30 a.m.
