Wilma G. Andersen

She came west to attend college and live with her big sister Edna in 1942. Wilma graduated from Fresno State College in 1945 with a teaching degree.

Upon her arrival in California, Wilma joined several dance groups and enjoyed Mexican Folk Dancing, Basque Dancing, German Dancing and the Fresno Square Rounder's. She met her husband Svend at a Danish Dance Institute and has been dancing and teaching ever since.

Wilma taught in Fresno Unified Elementary schools for 36 years. She was also a folk dance instructor during her tenure there. Wilma retired from teaching in 1982.

Since that time she co-founded the Fresno Danish Dancers and was very active with this group for many years. She also taught Folk Dancing at the Clovis Senior Center for many years and more recently has enjoyed Big Band and Ballroom dancing at Diana's where she has made many friends.

Graveside Service will be held at Fresno Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at 9:00 am and followed by at Memorial Service at the Peace Lutheran Church at 11:00 am.
