Brad Lee Herrmann passed from life on to his eternal home on August 13, 2017 in Frisco, Texas. Brad was born on March 29, 1955 in Denver, Colorado to his parents Ben (Bernhard) Herrmann and Jacqueline (Bickett) Herrmann. He was blessed with two sisters and one brother growing up in the Denver, CO area and later moving to Texarkana, TX then finally settling in Frisco, TX.
Friends and family recalled Brad as a kind, humble, modest and loving man. He, and his wife, Sheila, along with his son, Zach, devoted countless hours and endless love in the service of raising shelter cats. Brad’s favorite movies were John Belushi’s The Blues Brothers and Continental Divide; but likely his most favorite was the movie The Wizard of OZ, for which he knew all the lines, most especially that of The Tin Man.
Brad graduated from Lincoln High School in Denver, CO after which he began his working career at the Rocky Mountain News. He later followed in his father’s footsteps in working many years for Rainbow Bread also in Denver, CO. Seeking a better life for his family Brad went on to put himself through night school so he could earn his A & P license and become an aircraft mechanic. He spent 18 years with Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) primarily in Texarkana TX. So devoted to his job, Brad spent the entire year of 2001 flying daily to and from work between Texarkana and Dallas DFW airport to work when ASA was moving their operation to the Dallas area. When the airline closed their maintenance base at DFW in 2003, Brad chose not to relocate his family once again and sought a position ultimately with the North Texas Municipal Water Department working in the water/wastewater treatment industry where he remained for over 12 years.
When asked where he would like to be most, he would always respond doing anything with his son, Zach including attending concerts, watching the Tottenham Hotspur F.C. U.K. soccer team, and going to or watching NASCAR (especially Dale Earnhart) or Formula One racing. Brad loved spending time with those he cherished especially his wife Sheila, his sister-in-law, Cheryl and her husband, Don Carpinello as well as his two brother-in-laws, Tom and Tim Woodward whether it was going to the casino with Sheila or simply relaxing in his backyard sipping on a cold beer.
A very proud and exciting time for Brad was when he was honored to carry the Olympic Torch for the 2002 Olympic Games in December of 2001 in Miami, Florida. But Brad’s most special memories included watching his son being born and then watching Zach go on to graduate from high school and most recently from college. He was also overjoyed at Zachary’s acceptance for this fall into graduate school. He spent hours listening to his son play the piano or guitar, especially his original works. Brad really enjoyed being Zach’s biggest cheerleader as his son followed in his own footsteps playing the position of pitcher in baseball and later as a defenseman in hockey games.
Brad married the love of his life, Sheila Woodward in Denver, CO on April 28, 1982, after knowing her for only a week. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this past spring. Their union and love was solidified with the birth of their beloved son, Zachary Herrmann on August 9, 1988 in Denver, CO.
Brad is survived by his wife, Sheila Herrmann of Frisco, TX; his son, Zachary Herrmann of Frisco, TX; his rescue cats Cocoa Bean, Molly, and Jacob; his brother, Mark Herrmann of Alabama; his sisters, Jill Brashear and her husband, Foster of Colorado; Gail Carlson and her husband, Wyatt of Nebraska; his sister-in-law, Cheryl Carpinello and her husband, Don of Colorado; his brother-in-law, Tim Woodward and his wife, Danielle of Colorado; along with numerous nieces and nephews including Dave and Michele Carpinello of Colorado; Shelley and Jason Hegge of Colorado; and Jacqueline and Alliyah Woodward.
Brad was loved while he was here with us on earth, and we will continue to love him through time and all eternity.
