

Connie Pickering McCready begin her life on September 28, 1936 in West Monroe, Louisiana to her proud parents, Connie and Hazel Pickering. She ruled the house for 15 years until the arrival of her brother Bob and 5 years later, her sister Penny. The family grew up in Monroe, Louisiana.
Connie had an idyllic childhood, meeting the love of her life Alton McCready at Neville, H.S. Together they ruled the school. She was both cheerleader and drum majorette while Alton was a star athlete. She graduated from Neville with honors and went on to attend college at the University of Louisiana, Monroe (Northeast) where she earned a degree in Elementary Education.
She taught school for a few years, but spent most of her adult life as a corporate spouse supporting Alton’s career through a number of relocations in his 35+ years with Schlumberger. Throughout this period, Connie and Alton lived in Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma and Colorado. While Connie loved all of the places she lived, she was a southern girl at heart and enjoyed her time in the south the most.
Throughout her life, she was an avid reader, enjoyed card and board games, attending Dallas Cowboys Football games, painted and was talented in the garden and in home decorating. Friends often reached out to Connie for decorating advice as she had a keen eye for pulling together a room.
She had a strong faith and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, Plano, TX. She was active in a number of clubs and organizations throughout her life including AAUW, numerous Newcomer’s and Garden clubs in a number of cities and Northwood Women’s Club in Dallas.
She loved her family and spent as much time with them as she could. She would attend as many soccer, baseball, volleyball and dance recitals as possible to in support of her grandchildren. Animals were drawn to Connie and she was never without a dog or cat throughout her life. She was married to Alton McCready for 37 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton, her parents, Connie and Hazel Pickering and grandson, Chris Potts.
She is survived by her children, Jay McCready and his wife Juli of Chobham, England and Nancy McCready Potts of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Sarah McCready Wagner and her husband Phillips, Elizabeth McCready, Casey Potts, Cameron Potts, Kaytlynn Johnson and great grandchild Pace James Wagner.
