Daniel Scott Livchak, Sr., age 71, passed away on April 6, 2026, at 11:07 a.m., at his residence in Frisco, Texas, surrounded by his loving family. Scott was born August 2, 1954, in Lorain, Ohio, to David and Dorothy (Longwell) Livchak. On March 1, 1986, he married Mary Livchak, and they began a life together in Atlanta, Georgia, where they had met. Within a year they moved on to Philadelphia, PA, and after five years, relocated to Loudoun County in Northern Virginia, where their four children were born. Scott and family finally settled in Frisco, Texas in 2003.
Scott graduated Lorain Senior High in 1972. He was an excellent musician in his school orchestra, having been taught by his Grandfather, Wasyl Livchak, from a young age. Grandfather Wasyl performed with the Washington Redskins Marching Band and several Big Band orchestras. Scott was also a star pitcher in Lorain baseball. In local sports news coverage they dubbed him “Lorain’s Mister Hustle.” He then attended The Ohio State University where he earned a B.A. in French Literature. He also earned a spot on the O.S.U. Baseball Team. Scott put himself through college, working on campus and then during Summers in construction work. Mister Hustle indeed, as his strong work ethic set him up for success throughout his life.
Scott went on to a career in the hospitality industry, beginning as a Front Desk Clerk for The Sheraton Corporation and working his way up to Executive Vice President of Meristar Hospitality Corporation, a major hotel Real Estate Investment Trust and owner of upscale, full-service hotels that was acquired by Blackstone Group. At its peak, the Washington D.C.-based company owned over 100 properties, including brands such as Hyatt, Fairmont, Hilton and Westin. Scott was a member of the original executive team, which started with 4 hotels.
The true focus of Scott’s life was his family: his wife of forty years, Mary, and four sons, born in Waterford, Virginia. He instilled in his children a love for and proficiency in all sports, as well as, boating, music, academics, and adventure.
Scott is predeceased by his parents, David and Dorothy (Longwell) Livchak, and younger brother Robert Livchak. Scott is survived by his wife, Mary; children, David Livchak of Frisco, TX; Adam (Alexandra) Livchak of McKinney, TX; grandchild Mia; Chris Livchak of Frisco, TX; Daniel S. Livchak, Jr. of Frisco, TX: and siblings Karen (Joe) Majkut of Amherst, OH, Connie Livchak of Columbus, OH, and Wesley (Jamie) Livchak of Lakewood, OH.
In remembrance of our beloved Scott, the family welcomes any memorial gifts in his name to aid with funeral and memorial arrangements. Flowers, cards, and your loving presence are equally cherished.
