Danny Eugene Stone

Danny Eugene Stone was born to Edwin George Stone and Trudy Stone on July 30, 1945. He grew up in Dallas, TX along with his twin brother, Lanny and older brother Ronnie. Danny was very independent, he had a paper route at an early age and collected money from neighbors who adored him. That independent spirit helped him develop Stoneway Private Schools in the Dallas area which he owned for 39 years. There were 8 schools in 4 different states: Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Oklahoma. Danny graduated from Sunset High school in 1962 and received his Bachelor’s degree from SMU in 1968.

He married Bettye Conaway in Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. They just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April. Danny loved people, he would talk to anyone from close friends to random strangers. He loved traveling to exotic places and being near water. Some of his favorite vacations included Italy and beach destinations such as Mexico, Jamaica, Bahamas and St. Thomas as well as other exotic locations such as Africa (Egypt and Kenya), China, India, Nepal and various others. He loved being on or around boats and took a cruise on the Queen Mary II. He also enjoyed a wide variety of music from Josh Groban to Kool and the Gang and Patsy Cline.

As a child, he attended Rosemont Christian Church in Dallas and later attended First Christian Church in Richardson. He has been a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church since 1980. He helped the Bus Ministry working with Pastor Billy Weber and Associate Pastor Steve Byrd by lending buses from Stoneway Private Schools.

Danny is survived by his wife, Bettye Stone; children, Dannette Stone, Marc Stone and his wife Stephenie, Preston Stone and his wife Panita, Ramsey Stone and his wife Kelly; brothers, Ronnie Stone and his wife Judy, Lanny Stone and his wife Debbye; grandchildren, Mason, Brielle, Caroline, and Cooper; and the family dog Kuma.
