

Steven Huneycutt was born May 8, 1954, in Cleburne, TX to Dr. Weldon Huneycutt and Billie Jean Matthews Huneycutt. He was raised in Cleburne, TX and graduated from Cleburne High School in 1972. Steven married Wanda Scott on July 26, 1974, in Burleson, TX and went to earn his doctorate from Texas Chiropractic College, Pasadena, TX in 1979. Following his chiropractic practice, he earned his medical degree at the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medicine Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia. His residency training was completed in Lappeenranta, Finland, and Family Medicine Residency with Michigan State University. He owned Huneycutt Family Medicine from 2013 until his retirement in 2021.
Dr. Huneycutt was known to his colleagues, residents, nurses, and patients as a compassionate, caring physician. He served as the Medical Director for the MSO at Covenant HealthCare in Saginaw, MI, and was a family physician with Freeman HealthCare in Joplin, MO. He has been guest faculty for the Health Care Compliance Association, Fellow of The American Academy of Family Physicians, and co-author of Annals of Internal Medicine. He served as mayor for the city of Joshua, TX, and county water board member. He was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Loveland, CO.
Steven enjoyed spending time with his family, flying his Mooney airplane, motorcycles (especially his Honda 150), and the Rocky Mountains. He loved James Bond movies and saw every single one of them. He loved Mexican food and his favorite restaurant was El Fenix. He loved his new role as Papa to two year old granddaughter Harper. She was the apple of his eye and she had him wrapped tightly around her little finger.
Steven is survived by his loving wife Wanda with 47 years of marriage, son Bradley Huneycutt, daughter Abbey Dowdy and husband Ryan Dowdy; granddaughter Harper Rose Dowdy; mother Billie Jean Huneycutt; sister Linda Vick Tarrant and husband Larry Tarrant; niece Angie Vick; aunts Sue Crosier and Leta George; many cousins and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his father Dr. Weldon Huneycutt, and uncle Nolte Crosier.
Services for Dr. Steven Glen Huneycutt will be conducted on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco, TX. Visitation begins at 1:00 PM, service at 2:00 PM, graveside service 3:00 PM at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, TX.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be directed to Cook Children’s Health Foundation, American Kidney Fund, or the American Heart Association.
