Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister and Friend
1936 – 2025
Born in Korea to Guo Bok Kang (강거복) and Dong Seong Kim (김동성), Elizabeth was a woman of strength, elegance, and deep resilience. She passed peacefully at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy of love, ambition, and unwavering devotion to her family.
The beloved wife of Dr. Dong Sung Lee, Elizabeth was the proud and loving mother of seven children: Janet, Sharyl, Jill, John, David, Grace, and Betty, and sister to Ernest Kang.
Elizabeth lived a life defined by resilience, bold dreams, and high standards. She lived through challenging times, enduring the Korean War. Yet, she persevered and graduated from Ewha University, met our father, started a family, and moved their young family to the states. She built a vibrant and nurturing home—one filled with the richness of Korean traditions and the possibilities of American life.
Elizabeth was a gifted cook, a creative designer, a talented pianist, and a gracious homemaker. She had a wide and lasting social circle, from a close-knit group of neighborhood women to a broader community of fellow Korean immigrants.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and the many lives she so generously touched.
