

Frances M. Messina (DeMartino), 87, of Elk Grove Village, IL passed away, surrounded by family, on Friday, July 21, 2023 in Denton TX. Frances was born on April 29, 1936 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to Michael and Catherine (Tomaselli) DeMartino. She is a graduate of Westinghouse High School, Pittsburgh, PA.
She married John R. Messina Sr. of Homewood PA on February 27th, 1960. They lived in Pittsburgh until 1970 when they moved to Erie, PA. In 1976. the family moved back to the Pittsburgh are to the suburb of Murrysville. In 1982 they made the epic move to Elk Grove Village, IL. They lived there until moving to Argyle, Texas in 2021, and remained there until being called to their Heavenly Home.
Frances was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved staying active by golfing, shopping and exercising. She also enjoyed volunteering her time to the community and to the Catholic church. She took great pride in working and remaining active. For many years she was employed in the customer service department at Sears in Monroeville PA. In 1982 she transferred with Sears to their Woodfield Mall store in Schaumburg, IL and retired from their Hoffman Estates office.
She was fond of music, especially Sammy Davis Jr., Josh Groban, Frank Sinatra, and Andrea Bocelli. She enjoyed watching endlessly her favorite TV shows, Murder She Wrote and Friends. She also was never to be known without her beloved Dobermans, Trump and Angel, and finally little Millie.
Frances is preceded in death by her loving husband John R. Messina Sr.; her parents Michael and Catherine DeMartino; her brother, Joseph DeMartino; and sister, Rose Marie DiVittorio.
She is survived by her sons, John Messina Jr. (Ann Hinkson) and Christopher Messina (Erika Lucero), Judi Lynn Archer and Michelle Campobasso (Savario Campobasso); Grandchildren include, Matthew (Samantha Farmer), Michael, Jonathan and Benjamin Messina, Griffith, Mason, Kennedy, Carson Messina, Giovanni, Isabella Archer, Gabriella, Giada, and Giuliana Campobasso; Great-grandchildren, Anthony, Timothy Messina, sons of Matthew and Samantha Messina; she is also survived by her sister JoAnn Egan and brother Anthony DeMartino.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday August 7th at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas.
