Gigi Kammer, a vibrant and cheerful spirit who embraced life to the fullest, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023 at Methodist Dallas Hospital, surrounded by the love of her family. Born in San Antonio, Texas, to Charles F. Jordan, Jr. and Betty Bonds Jordan, she was preceded in death by her mother Betty, and leaves behind her sister, JoBeth Jordan, her father, Charles F. “Buddy” Jordan Jr., his devoted wife, Nancy Jordan, and numerous cousins.
Gigi’s heart belonged to her husband and soulmate, Jerry Kammer, and her daughter Andi Putt (Sean). Through her marriage with Jerry, she was blessed with the addition of love from his children Steve Kammer (Kathy), and Shellie Smith (Gordon). She adored her grandchildren Josh Kammer (Kim), Lexi Faught (Eliot), Matthew Putt, Kaylie Smith, Nathan Putt, Lydia Smith, Ryan Putt, Kammer Putt, and her great grandson Harlon Kammer. Her love and joy for life extended to every member of her family and she created a legacy of love.
Gigi was blessed with more family when her birth sister reached out to her later in life. She had fond memories of spending time at the beach with her birth mother, Belane Harrod and her late husband Wood Harrod, her sister Regina Wilbanks (Randy), her brother, Wood Harrod, Jr., along with countless nieces and nephews all of whom held a special place in her heart.
A wild child in her youth, Gigi wanted more for her daughter and herself. She earned her GED and Bachelors of Science degree in the Physician’s Assistant Program at the University of Texas Southwestern, and entered into a successful and meaningful career as a PA, in which she took great pride. She built lifelong friendships with classmates and co-workers.
Gigi had a zest for life that was contagious. Her passion to live life to the fullest was evident in her love for travel. She took great joy in researching and planning the adventures she shared with her husband, Jerry, as they explored the United States in their motorhome (Waldo) during her early retirement. The photographs and stories of their adventures shared on social media inspired friends and family to seek adventure and explore nature’s beauty. Gigi and Jerry cherished the many friendships they have made on the road.
When not traveling, Gigi enjoyed spending time with her family, sitting out on her patio watching the birds visit their numerous bird feeders, playing darts with her not-so-succinct sister, hosting the “Kammer community pool” with her neighbors who became lifelong friends, and playing water volleyball and pickleball with her fellow Frisco Lakes residents. Scuba diving was another one of her passions, and she shared unforgettable moments traveling the world’s oceans with her dive buddies.
Gigi Kammer leaves a legacy of love and laughter. Her memory will live on, inspiring all who knew her to embrace life with the same enthusiasm and love that she did.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, November 18th at 1:30pm at the Frisco Lakes Northside Amenity Center in Frisco, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation in Gigi’s name.
