Harold was one of my best friends at Harrison High School in Chicago.  He was a math genius and always had the answers to any math question that might have stumped all the rest of the students in our honors class.  Many wonderful hours were spent with him and Ron Perez discussing philosophical questions until the wee hours on weekends at my house.  He was a wonderful man and will be remembered always.

Harold, Ron Perez, and I were all in Honors classes together at Harrison High School and spent a lot of time together in school and out of school as well.  When Ron could get his uncle’s car we would go out to O’Hare airport and watch the planes take off, then come back to my house and talk for hours and argue about philosophical questions.   Harold was a math genius—always having the right answers to any math problem that might have stumped the rest of us.  He and Ron came out to NIU when I was there several times to visit.  I loved my “boy” friends and will always carry those memories in my heart.

Thinking of you during this difficult time. Harold loved his family. And it was obvious in his words & smile.  Several times I was with Jen when she brought the boys over, he was so happy as Ethan & Max ran to him &  gave him hugs.  💖. You could also see the love he had for his daughters. 😍 I saw it many times as his eyes lit up with Jen. He was so proud of Jen and the beautiful mother she had become. 💞 A scripture that I thought of was Acts 24:15 .. 'there is going to be a resurrection.'. I look forward to seeing Harold again soon, here on the earth, in a beautiful paradise.

Hello! My name is JIM BORLA  Harold Sakalares and I grew up in the Public Housing Projects on the south side of Chicago, Illinois.  Harold and I have been BEST FRIENDS for 67 years. I loved Harold like a brother. He helped me out in so many ways growing up. I had just talked to  Harold about a week and a half before his passing. I wish I had one more chance to tell him how much I valued our friendship all these years. I'm sure he knows , and always has. I tell my wife Karen over and over it's so hard to believe I'll never be able to see or talk to him again. I know we always say our friends and love ones are in a better place now in Gods Grace,  It's just so hard to let them go.  Until we meet again my friend , I LOVE YOU! and will never forget you. Thank You for 67years  of friendship  your best friend JIMMY.
