Hugh Frank Wells, Jr. passed from this life on to his eternal home on January 2, 2017 in Little Elm, Texas with his family by his bedside. He was born on May 4, 1926 in Gulfport, MS to his parents, Hugh Frank Wells, Sr. and Myrtle E. Scarbough. Hugh was proud of his upbringing in Mississippi and especially when he would share his favorite term – “Shuckens”.
Family and friends recall Hugh as being kind, a hard worker and a very giving person. In fact, his wife had to hide the numerous donation requests that they would receive in the mail or he would send all their money to all of them. Hugh was a Mason for over 50 years which provided him multitude of opportunities to serve others.
Hugh loved his country and served in both the Coast Guard and U.S. Maritime Service during WW II serving as a Chief Electrician in both the Atlantic and Pacific War Zones. He continued his love for the sea working as a Merchant Seaman for over 40 years. It was during his time in the military that Hugh increased his education by attending the technical classes required for his position.
When asked where his favorite place to be was, Hugh would respond sitting in his favorite chair in his room and watching classic movies. Hugh also loved working in the garden with his wife and raising guinea hens.
Hugh was married to the love of his life, Oswalinda Wells in 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh Sr. and Myrtle; his wife, Oswalinda; his daughter, Linda Wells; and his son, Frank Wells. His legacy will continue on through his daughter, Lisa Collins and her husband, Jody; Hugh’s grandchildren: Leslie, Casey, Ashley, Sean along with four great-grandchildren. Hugh will be sorely missed by Jody’s parents; Mark and Ann Dvorak. Not to be forgotten, Hugh’s three dogs: Romeo, Rocco and Sammy.
Hugh was loved while he was with us here on earth, and will be continued to be loved through time and all eternity.
