Jorge Zondowicz

Jorge Zondowicz Katz was born on March 15, 1956 to Nicolas Zondowicz Rabinowicz & Bertha Katz Stabinski. Growing up in Mexico City, he then graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Universidad Metropolitana with the idea of helping in the family business, but decided to take a different path. Occupationally, Jorge worked in the restaurant business, housing industry as a Building Contractor, and also worked for Boeing and Safran; However, the most important job, and the one he loved the most, was that of being a father. Which he was great at.

Jorge was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend. Jorge always had a special way with people. Mayra and Jorge lived in different cities when they met and started dating. She was amazed at the number of people he knew in her home town that regarded him as a friend and held him in high esteem. They sincerely cared about his friendship as did anyone he met. Jorge was raised having exceptional morals and family values that he lived by, and worked hard to pass on to his children.

Jorge was the strongest warrior we’ve known. After he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the throat 13 years ago, Jorge showed an immense amount of strength, enduring a brutal treatment that left him with a less than desirable quality of life but he refused to let that define who he was. He fought because he loved life and wanted to continue enjoying his family and see his children prosper. Even when sick, he worked every day. He wanted to stay busy living. A quote by Stuart Scott said it best, “You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and the manner in which you live”.

Jorge is survived by his wife, Mayra Salinas Zondowicz; children, Tamara Baumgarner and Joshua Zondowicz; grandchildren Lennan and Jude; brothers, Jimmy Zondowicz, Rafael Zondowicz, Carlos Blanco and Eduardo Blanco.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, 4pm, at Stonebriar Funeral Home located at 10375 Preston Rd., Frisco, TX 75033.
