Margaret Elizabeth Moog went home to her Lord early Sunday morning, April 28, 2024, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Margaret was born to Peter and Margaret (Kaiser) Beck on June 8, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. Margaret was the youngest daughter and seventh of eight children. Margaret married the love of her life, James (Jim) C. Moog on November 12, 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. After being raised in Chicago, Margaret lived in Minnesota and California—moving with Jim’s naval career—before returning to the Chicago area. Margaret had a long and successful career with First National Bank of Lake Forest (Illinois), but her true calling was being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. After retiring,
Margaret and Jim moved to Florida where they lived for several years and where their first two grandchildren, Dylan and Zak, were born. In 1997, Margaret and Jim moved to Texas and lovingly helped care for their triplet grandchildren—Tatum, Cole and Courtney, while traveling to see Dylan and Zak as often as they could. Margaret never missed the opportunity to shower everyone with love and truly lived for family time. Margaret was in her element when family was visiting, and she was recalling all the wonderful times she considered to have been blessed to enjoy. Margaret’s passion was family pictures—Margaret had a digital picture frame on which she could upload pictures anytime she got a new one and she spent hours just watching the pictures scroll across the screen. She also made albums for all the family members to make sure they would have lasting memories to enjoy. She was working on albums for her two great grandkids until the end. Margaret’s favorite musical group was Il Divo and one of her highlights was getting to see them in person at Choctaw. Margaret also loved to crochet and the entire family has many beautiful Afghans to show for all of Margaret’s talents. Margaret loved to bake for the grandkids and loved Sunday lunch with the family. Margaret was raised in the Catholic faith and followed her faith until the end reciting the rosary every time she would lay down in bed (and many times in between). It was a great source of comfort for her. She cherished praying for others and coveted the prayers she received as she battled her cancer.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, sisters-Lorraine and Dorothy, brothers—Raymond, Jerome, and Peter. In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by her son, Jim (and Diana) Moog and daughter, Pam (and Rod) Dennis; her grandchildren, Dylan (and Kristen) Dennis, Zak Dennis, Tatum Moog, Cole (and Taylor) Moog, and Courtney (and Drake) McAulay; her two great-grandchildren—Kambrie Rose Dennis and James Beckett Moog; her brother, Russell and sister, Marilyn, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Amity Hospice and all the wonderful caregivers as well as her neighbors who loved both Jim and Margaret so well.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on May 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
