

Nandkumar Kuloor, known affectionately as Nand, was born on February 3, 1934, in Mangalore, India, to Babu and Sharada Amin. After a life marked by rich experiences and deep connections, he passed away peacefully at his home on July 10, 2024, at the age of 90.
Nand's journey took him across the globe, from Mangalore, Mumbai, and Pune in India to international cities such as London, Toronto, New York, Houston, and finally to Frisco, Texas. His life's path was a testament to his adaptability and adventurous spirit.
Nand was born and raised in Mangalore, India. He spent part of his life in Mumbai before pursuing his education at Pune College of Engineering in Pune, India, where he earned his degree in Civil Structural Engineering. Later when he lived in Long Island, he pursued his MBA at Stony Brook University. Nand was a lifelong sports enthusiast. During his college years, he was an active member of his college crew team and, later in his life, was an avid tennis player and bowler. After graduation, Nand began his career with a UK engineering firm in India, eventually offering him an opportunity to move to London. Before embarking on this international journey, Nand married Aruna Kotinkar, a fellow Mangalore native who had grown up in Mumbai. Their union marked the beginning of a lifelong partnership in life's journey to raise a family and experience the world.
Nand's career spanned several decades and continents, during which time he focused on Petrochemical and Nuclear power plant engineering projects. His work took him across the globe, fostering deep and lasting friendships with colleagues from London, Toronto, New York, Houston, Bay City, Granbury, Texas, San Francisco, and even Saudi Arabia, where he formed lasting friendships with colleagues.
Nand worked well into his 70’s, long past the typical retirement age. Upon retirement, he channeled his passion for investing into a full-time pursuit, mastering options trading and even developing his own algorithms. His love for bridge also re-emerged, allowing him to form new friendships in Houston and Dallas.
Beyond his professional and personal interests, Nand was deeply committed to spiritual growth and community service. He was an active member of the Sathya Sai Baba chapter in Houston and contributed to various charitable endeavors.
Nand's greatest joy was his family. He cherished his wife, Aruna, his children and their spouses, Romen & Shaina, Rima & Michael, his siblings, his four grandchildren, Linnea, Kian, Kashmira, and Krish, and his beloved best fur friend, Ollie. He maintained close ties with his extended family in India, balancing his life in the US with a deep connection to his roots.
Known for his warm, gregarious, and fun-loving personality, Nand easily built friendships and left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His legacy of love, dedication, and kindness will continue to inspire all who knew him.
Nandkumar Kuloor will be profoundly missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
