Pamela McNair Freeman was born on December 17, 1946, the middle child to Dorothy Trawick and Emmitt McNair. She grew up in Pensacola, FL with her two siblings, Dianne Bond and Jacque Boone. She lost her father at age 3 and her mother at age 17, which profoundly shaped her life and intensified her focus on family. Pam graduated from Pensacola High School in 1964 and married her husband, Air Force Captain Randy Freeman, in 1970. They had three daughters, Robyn, Paige and Courtney.
She was a happy home maker, wife, mother and Mimi. She was the matriarch and “glue” to her entire family. Her kind, giving, and loyal spirit made her a friend to all who knew her. Everyone who knew her also knew her love for football, especially Alabama! Roll Tide!
Pam loved her family immensely. Pensacola Beach held many special memories, but her favorite place to be was with her family. She could often be found reading a book with a cup of coffee and her dog Sammy by her side. Pam had a passion for reading but also loved cooking, cross-stitch, ceramics, playing cards, shopping online, Coca-Cola, pastrami sandwiches on rye, and midnight snacks. She cherished the quiet times of watching TV with her husband. The loving bond they shared was strong. He called her “Darlin’”, and he meant it.
Pam delighted in sharing her love for the Lord.. She loved Christmas…and all holidays that gave her a reason to cook for her family. Her love for cooking lives on through her daughters with the help of the cookbook she created titled “Hey Mom!! What’s for Dinner? Recipes for my Daughters”.
Her grandchildren brightened her world. She loved giving each one a special nick name; Doodle Bug, Shug, Asher Buddy, her Beauty, Dimple Dumplin’, Katie Bug and Sweet Pea were all incredible blessings to Pam.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Emmitt McNair and survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Randy Ray Freeman of Frisco, TX; children Robyn Freeman Edwards and husband Shannon Ray Edwards; Paige Freeman Draper and husband Justin Wade Draper; Courtney Freeman Smith and husband Jacob Brandon Smith; grand-children Christian Kane Magee, Avery Ruth Edwards, Hannah Elizabeth Osborn, Katherine Paige Osborn, Asher McNair Smith, Addison Claire Smith and Isabelle Lauren Smith.
She brightened their days here on earth and is now shining that light in Heaven. She will be missed beyond measure but will continue to be loved through time and all eternity.
