

Harold Ira (Pete) Peterson was born in Minneapolis, Kansas on October 31, 1946 in his grandmother’s front room. He met the Lord on November 8, 2016 at the age of 70 years after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Pete was a friend to everyone. He was never a stranger and always helped others. Pete grew up in Minneapolis as the middle child where he milked cows and churned butter. He had many memorable childhood experiences that helped shape his character and who he later became.
Pete was always there to cheer on his boys at their football games and even made sure to attend his grandchildren’s games as well. Pete graduated Marquette High School in 1964 where he played the trombone, basketball and football. Pete was a proud veteran of the United States Army. While enlisted from 1967 to 1969 he was awarded a sharpshooter and national defense service medal. Pete and Johnnie Ruth married October 24, 1991 in Pearland Methodist Church. The love of Pete’s life will always be his bride, Johnnie Ruth Stewart Peterson who he was happily married to for 25 years. Pete was a loving husband that always told Johnnie Ruth how much that he loved her and how beautiful she was.
Pete attended the Denton Bible Church for years. He loved the choir and the pastor’s teachings on the Bible. Pete loved the water, when asked where his favorite place to be was, Pete would respond with his family at the lake. The lake was his life for 15 years at Richland Chambers. He was an avid hunter, loved to Jet Ski and go out on the bass boat and build patios. After retirement, Pete took up golf and loved playing with friends and his boys. He also became member of the Men’s Golf Association.
Pete is preceded in death by his father Harold and Catherine, his mother, and his two children Duane Dean and Debra Dee.
His legacy will continue on through his loving wife of 25 years Johnnie Ruth of Frisco Texas, his son, Vince Horst of Overland Park, Kansas and his finance Michelle and her four children; Britt Dean of Frisco, Texas and his wife Shannon; Bradley Steward Dean of Frisco, Texas and his wife Jenny. His cherished eight grandchildren: Chandler, Logan, Ava, Hudson, Britton, Harper, Allison and Brooklynn as well as his sister, Lou and her husband Ron of Minneapolis, Kansas and his brother, Lyle Peterson. Pete is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete was loved while here with us and that love will continue through time and all eternity.
