

Philip is the son of the late Michael and Mary Sciortino. He was predeceased by his Son, Michael, and his wife, Lucy Sciortino. He is survived by his sister, Chancey Franchino; his five children, Philip, and his wife Vicky; Gail, and her husband, Bill; Steven, and his wife Laura; Rita; and Lynn, and her husband, Jon, and several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by Lucy’s three children, and several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
After graduating from high school, Philip served with the US Army Artillery, 1st Army Division, during WWII. After completing basic training, he was deployed to the European Theater of Operations where he saw action in France, Germany and Belgium. During his service, he was awarded the ‘WWII Victory in Europe,’ the ‘Europe-Africa-Mediterranean,’ and the ‘American Campaign’ medals, among others. It was through his military service that he developed his leadership and organizational skills, which he would use through his civilian career.
Philip was born and raised in Utica, New York and later moved his family to Hamilton, New Jersey to accept an employment transfer as an Account Executive with Gulf Oil Corporation, with whom he was employed for 37 years.
Philip retired to Florida and served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and as a member of the Orientation Committee for the Visiting Nurses’ Society. He also served the Epiphany Parish Catholic Church as a Greeter and counselor. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 159.
He and wife Lucy especially enjoyed traveling, attending local theater and listening to the music of the big band era. Frank Sinatra and Perry Como were among Philip’s favorite soloists.
Philip relocated to Frisco, Texas in 2016 and was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, TX. He resided in the Parkview in Frisco independent living complex and participated in a variety of programs conducted there.
