Born in New York, NY, and raised between the vibrant streets of Brooklyn and the warmth of Jacksonville, FL, Shakee eventually made his way to Texas, where he graduated from Plano Senior High School and built a life filled with purpose, love, and joy. Over the years, he wore many hats — from serving tables and assisting as a pharmacy technician to most recently, finding freedom and pride behind the wheel as a truck driver. No matter the job, Shakee brought his full spirit and integrity to the work he did.
Shakee was a man of depth and dimension — full of charm, humor, and unfiltered passion. His big personality lit up every room, and his quick wit ensured that laughter was never far behind. Whether engaged in a lively debate, quoting classic lines from Martin, or breaking down the latest relationship theory he discovered on YouTube, Shakee had a gift for conversation and connection.
A lifelong football fan, Shakee stood proudly with the New York Giants, often cheering — loudly and unapologetically — whether they were winning or not. His tastes were bold and true: he had a deep love for Wu-Tang Clan, a curiosity for court TV, and a refined eye for style. Shakee’s fashion sense was uniquely his own — recently embracing Western wear with enthusiasm, adding to his growing collection of boots and hats with each new adventure. He shared this love of fashion with his beloved wife, Pam; their shopping trips were not just errands, but moments of laughter, bonding, and joy.
Shakee also had a long-standing passion for vintage cars and would light up when walking through classic car shops, dreaming and admiring with the wide-eyed wonder of a lifelong enthusiast. He enjoyed fine dining, visits to the gun range, and most of all, the comforts of home. Despite his many interests, Shakee was, at heart, a homebody — a man who found his deepest happiness in the presence of his family.
Above all, Shakee was a devoted husband, a proud father, a loyal son, and a cherished brother. His love for his wife Pam and their son Kaleb was unwavering and deep. He took pride in the life they built together and in the man he had become.
Shakee is survived by his loving wife, Pam Smith; his son, Kaleb Smith; his mother, Gloria Smith; his brothers, Ronnie (Lisa) Johnson, Rasheen (Sayleon) Smith, and Jimmy (Aleice) Drayton; and his sister Monica (Dave) Afrifa. He also leaves behind his nephews, Jacob Afrifa and Joseph Sanders; and nieces, DeAmber (Reshard) Ferguson, Latoya Johnson, and Zora Smith. He was preceded in death by his father, John Wesley Smith.
Shakee will be remembered for his laughter that echoed, his spirited conversations, his sense of style, and above all, the fierce love he held for his family and friends. He lived life on his own terms — boldly, honestly, and with heart.
He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A celebration of life memorial service for Shakee will be held Monday, August 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Stonebriar Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10375 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75033.
