Shawn Clifton Groom

Shawn Clifton Groom was born to Sheri and Greg Groom on December 5, 1992. He and his younger sister Kendell grew up in Frisco, TX. He spent his childhood playing sports, spending time on many different beaches, and playing games with his family.

Shawn had a contagious smile and a caring heart. He was funny, loving and easy to be around. Everyone had a different nickname for him; Kendell called him “Bubby,” his mom called him “Groom,” and his dad called him “Boo.” Shawn was special to everyone.

Shawn graduated from Liberty High school in 2011 and earned his Associates degree from UT Tyler in 2013. He enjoyed drawing, fantasy football, and cooking and he had fun playing basketball, baseball and soccer. Shawn loved to play with his dog Zip and watch CSI and King of Queens. His favorite sayings were “Go RedHawks” and “Swole.” He was a member of Hope Fellowship Frisco East.

Shawn is preceded in death by Great Grandmothers Louise Groom and Adele Hamilton; Grandfather Jack Chaney; Aunt Gayla Bartlett; Uncle Doyle Mimbs; and Cousin Kevin Chaney.

He is survived by his parents Greg and Sheri Groom and sister Kendell of Mckinney, TX; Grandparents Ira Clifton Groom and Sherrie Groom of Lindale, TX; Grandmother Allene Smith of Tyler; Aunts and Uncles Florinne Wynn and husband Jack of Mansfield, TX, Stan and Karen Chaney of Quinlan, TX; Cousin Jennifer and Jason Steedman; and a host of other cousins!
