

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted Christian, Shirley Beatrice Fultz Wink, of The Colony, Texas passed away peacefully on September 1, 2024 at the age of 83. Shirley dedicated her life to her family and her faith.
Shirley was born on October 12, 1940 to William Walter Fultz and Beatrice Elizabeth Fultz in Hanover, PA. After graduating from Eastern High School in Baltimore, MD in 1958, she went on to study at Towson State Teachers College where she earned her teaching degree. She taught 4th grade in the Baltimore City Public School System from 1962 until 1969. She married Leonard W. Wink on July 24th, 1965 at Hampden United Methodist Church in Baltimore where both of their families attended.
After starting their family, Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker and staying home with her girls. She served in her children’s school PTA, taught Sunday School, and in later years returned to teaching at various preschools and Montessori school programs.
Upon moving to Texas in 1982, she was an active member in Beta Sigma Phi, a service fraternity in her community. She regularly attended First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, Tx. where she was active in the ladies’ bible study. Later, she transferred her membership to the First United Methodist Church of The Colony, Tx. where she served in the Stephen’s Ministry and Preschool Program. Shirley was a devoted caregiver to her mother, Beatrice, until her passing in 1989.
Shirley’s home was a sanctuary filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. A woman of unwavering faith, she found joy in serving others and spreading kindness. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched everyone that knew her, leaving an indelible mark on all of our lives. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time crafting and making memories with her grandchildren whom she adored. Her love of the Lord and her faith will continue to inspire us.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Beatrice Fultz of Baltimore, MD. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Leonard Wink; daughters Stephanie Pope and Jennifer Vaerewyck; son-in-laws Robert Pope and Christopher Vaerewyck; granddaughter Abby Vaerewyck; and grandsons Evan Pope, and Jackson Vaerewyck.
Celebration of Life Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, November 3rd, 2024 at 2pm at Stonebriar Funeral Home: 10375 Preston Road in Frisco, TX.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Shirley’s memory at her request to the Alzheimer’s Association on behalf of her husband Leonard Wink.
