Tom Herr’s amazing life started in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania. Born to Clyde Herr and Bernice Alexander Herr. His family moved to the Washington D.C. area, where he grew up. After graduating from Clemson University with a degree in Architecture, Tom started his career with the US Park Service. It was his love for nature and the great outdoors that led him there. He was responsible for renovating monuments and bridges in and around our Nation’s Capital. Tom’s career finally led him to land development. He started his own company, Devon Land and development. His projects mainly took him to Maryland and Virginia, as well as Washington D.C. and eventually Texas. This is where he met his wife Elaine, and they started their life together, as best friends, husband and wife, and parents to their wonderful boys.
Tom’s hobbies were many, he loved skiing. He loved his horses and loved riding. He rode almost daily while living in the Virginia countryside. He loved sports, especially Clemson football. He loved country music and shared this with his boys. He was also in the Air National Guard while in Virginia. He loved his country, and was so proud to be an American. Tom was a gentleman and a scholar. He educated himself on politics, current events, and art. He loved collecting antiques, but always had a great love for Mid Century modern, which he also collected. He enjoyed wine and became a connoisseur of sorts, buying wine at auctions all over Europe when he was younger.
Most of all he loved his family. Elaine and their 4 sons were the loves of his life. He was so proud of them, and all they accomplished.
