“Love is the absence of judgement.” ~ Dalai Lama
Victor lived with the mindset of making every day the best day possible for his loved ones and himself; more so, for his loved ones. He appreciated that life is given to all of us as a gift from God and wished for everyone to only smile and laugh. He would do his best to make other people’s lives better by being positive, empathetic, compassionate, and selfless. He had an expansive amount of wisdom and enjoyed sharing and exchanging that with the world. He had a passion for music, drawing, reading, writing, and philosophical beliefs. As greatly as he loved his parents, sister, and brother-in-law, there was an immeasurable love that he carried in his heart for his nephews, Julian and Mateo. Victor was always there for his nephews from the moment they were brought into this world. His nephews knew him as ‘Toto’, a nickname Julian gave him when he began learning how to speak. Julian and Mateo admired their uncle for many reasons. They admired how resilient he showed the world he was every day, how he smiled and laughed when the world was not so bright, and how they could rely on their uncle no matter what. Victor was a nature enthusiast and intrigued by the wonders of the universe. He cherished the life of all animals, including his best friend, Rudy, his pet chihuahua. Victor and Rudy were inseparable, all the way up to the point of Rudy’s battle with cancer. Though life brings sad moments, Victor loved to focus on laughter. He knew laughter is medicine for all souls; from playing pranks on his sister, laughing at his dad’s silly jokes, to the knock-knock jokes he and his nephews told each other. Victor learned that life is hard, but no matter what life hands you, to do your best to stand tall, to love unconditionally, and to cherish every breath you are blessed with. Victor would want us to honor his legacy by remembering that he had a heart full of love for his family, a limitless amount of compassion for all, and was endlessly loyal to his loved ones. He would want people to learn from his life journey to always live in the present and be the best version of yourself every day.
