

William Lund Pendleton, age 96, of Frisco, Texas passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Bill was born in Bosque County near Clifton, Texas, on May 18, 1927, to Homer Denton Pendleton and Gina Louise Lund Pendleton.
Bill graduated from Cranfills Gap High School in 1944 at age 17, after which he moved to Needles, California to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. After one year, he joined the Navy and began boot camp in San Diego, California. Upon completion of boot camp, World War II had ended and Bill returned to Texas where he began his education under the GI Bill. He completed 2 years at Clifton Junior College, 1 year at Baylor University, and graduated from North Texas State (now the University of North Texas) with a BBA in Accounting in 1950.
Bill then moved to Midland, Texas to work for an accounting firm and complete the testing for his CPA license. At this time, he met Janell Bolin and they married in June 1951. While living in Midland, Bill continued his accounting career working for J. C. Williamson. Also, during this time, Bill and Janell had 3 children, Vicki, Kent, and Jay. In 1966, the family moved to Pampa, Texas and Bill worked for the Carbon Black Plant. In 1967, the family moved to Olney, Texas to work for Aloka Oil Company and he was an active member of the Lion’s Club. While living in Olney, another child was born, Stacy. Bill moved with the family back to Midland in 1970, where they would live the bulk of their lives. Bill continued working as a CPA for Flag Redfern Oil Company and later for Kerr-McGee Oil Company. During his time in Midland, he was an active member of the Petroleum Accountants Society, where he served as President. He retired in 1991. Bill and Janell were long time members of St. Mark’s Methodist Church while in Midland. In 2007, Bill and Janell moved to Frisco, Texas, to be closer to family and enjoy their grandchildren’s activities.
William to his siblings, Bill to everyone else, Dad to his kids, and Papa to his grandkids and great grandkids, he did not know a stranger. He always had a joke at the ready. Cooking burgers on the grill, watching football, listening to big band and country music, and two-stepping with Janell were among his favorite activities. He especially enjoyed happy hours with live music. Bill enjoyed traveling and was always wanting to plan the next trip; he and Janell traveled all over the world with friends and family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Gina Pendleton; siblings, Opal Weant, H.D. Pendleton, and Etta Mae Bertelsen; and grandson, Nathan Pendleton.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Janell; his children Vicki Roark and her husband, Gary, of Midlothian; Kent Pendleton and his wife, Lynn, of Carrollton; Jay Pendleton and his wife, Susan, of Little Rock; and Stacy Grafton of Austin. He will be missed by his grandchildren who called him Papa: Heather Anderson, Lindsay Roark, Jamie Williams (George), Melanie Walker (Will), Laura McCarthy (James), David Pendleton (Jena), Michael Pendleton (Jaylah), Dru Altheide (Stefan), Will Pendleton (Haley), Wynne Grafton, and Heath Grafton. And his great grandchildren Lauren Anderson, Garrett Anderson, Jack Anderson, Colin Williams, Lucy Williams, Joss Williams, Scarlett McCarthy, Evan McCarthy, Meredith McCarthy, Logan McCarthy, Kate Pendleton, Annie Pendleton, Ryan Pendleton, Nolan Pendleton, Rose Altheide, August Altheide, Frankie Pendleton, Callaway Pendleton, Wilkes Pendleton. And his great great grandson, Silas Grosek.
Memorial service will be held, March 22, 2024 at 3pm, Stonebriar Funeral Home in Frisco.
