Helen Marie English

Helen Marie English, age 84, of Front Royal, VA, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, at her residence. Born June 12, 1927, in Roanoke, VA, to Fred William Robinson and Beatrice Foster Robinson, Helen made her life as a homemaker.

Helen will be remembered by many as a gracious lady who enjoyed entertaining around her table with her family and friends, writing notes, cooking, picnicking, travelling and sight-seeing, sewing for House of Fabrics; especially loved ‘hand-work’, and was exceptional in cross-stitch and quilting. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Front Royal, and enjoyed volunteering countless hours with C-CAP in Front Royal; it seemed Helen had an endless supply of unconditional love.

Helen is survived by her son, A. Wayne English and his wife Jo of Culpeper, VA, her brother, Fred William “Bill” Robinson, Jr., sister-in-law, Corinna English, both of Roanoke, VA, and her grandchildren; Kristen Johnson and her husband C.J. of Culpeper, VA. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends also survive.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Alton Jackson “Jack” English and her sister, Ginny Angel.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Care Connections and Blue Ridge Hospice for all of their loving care.

There will be a time of visitation held at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home, 1200 N. Shenandoah Ave., Front Royal, VA 22630 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012, in the First Baptist Church of Front Royal with Rev. Dr. Mark Jordan and Chaplin Liz Danielsen officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, 200 W. Prospect Street, Front Royal, VA 22630.
