
A funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the Front Royal Baptist Temple with Pastor Roger Hatfield officiating and Pastors Bruce Proctor and Frank Painter assisting. Burial will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Mr. Heflin was born on January 22, 1929 in Castleton, a son of the late Herbert Heaton and Mazie Kinsey Heflin. He was the owner of Good Home Builders Construction Company and was the former pastor of Five Forks Regular Baptist Church in Sperryville and Green Valley Baptist Church in Front Royal. He was a member of the Gideons for a number of years. Mr. Heflin served his country in the Army and National Guard.
Mr. Heflin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Jean Davis Heflin; his children, Gwen Lynn, Linda Daly, David Heflin, Eric Heflin, Gary Heflin, Nancy Ross, John Heflin and Joanne Heflin; his grandchildren, Susanna Lynn, Thomas Lynn, Rebekah Lynn, Stephen Lynn,, JoAnna Lynn, Thomas Daly, Michael Daly, Rebecca Floyd, Josh Heflin, Eric Heflin, II, Krystal Hall, Lori Baker, Emily Hoff, Ashton Hoff, Sandy Jo Heflin, Kenneth Ross, Erica Ross, Stephanie Ross, John Michael Heflin, Jacob Heflin, and Cara Heflin; his great-grandchildren, Kerith Lynn, Olivia Lynn, Dylan Baker, Tiffany Daly, Kyle Floyd, Cody Chloski, Kaylee Hall, and Natalie Heflin; and his brother, Everett Preston “Bill” Heflin.
In addition to his parents Mr. Heflin was preceded in death by his sisters, Freida Nicholson and Rebecca Sibert and his great-granddaughter Madison Baker.
Pallbearers will be Bill Fix, Ron Weckenman, Jim Coverstone, Mark Stallard, Tom Robinson and Rick Diamond. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Harper, John Greer, Walter Harper, Jim Petty and Rick Anderson.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to the Gideons International, P. O. Box 206, Front Royal, VA 22630.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home.
