Alan Pinkerton, Frederick, passed away April 17, 2014 in Loveland, Colorado at the age of 57. He was born January 30, 1957 in Grand Junction, Colorado and graduated from Central High School in 1975. He attended college at Colorado School of Mines, majoring in geophysics, graduating in 1979. He was a gentle, kind man who was very quiet and contemplative. For a number of years he lived with the effects of Marfan’s Disease, which affects connective tissues in the body, particularly in the heart. The family felt that they had been given extra time with Alan, after several critical incidents and surgeries. Of late, his body was just worn out.
Alan married Cindy Banfield on July 30, 2005 in Loveland, Colorado. He was a software engineer at McKesson Provider Technologies.
Alan enjoyed spending time with family and his golden retriever Sully, who thinks he’s a lapdog. He enjoyed greatly landscaping the home that he and Cindy had built together. He had also really enjoyed his cat, Casper, a white long-hair, who loved to get a foot massage.
He had become politically active in recent years. He was a master organizer, and his label-maker was a great friend. He was proud of new cabinets he put in the garage, and his organization of tools. He was a great wood worker, building a great plant stand for Cindy.
One of Alan’s passions was astronomy, and he had a house full of telescopes. He loved looking at the stars at night and really enjoyed the recent blood moon. He was a whole lot techie and somewhat nerdy at times. He loved to build computers, and wanted to make sure he got all of the latest gadgets for Cindy’s. He had a number of weather censors. And, he even had a webcam on the swallows in his yard. Of late, his pride and joy was his beautiful red Camaro with black racing stripes.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Dorothy Pinkerton. He is survived by his wife Cindy Banfield, son Stephen Pinkerton, daughter Natalie Pinkerton, their mother Bonnie Mokray Gebhart, also a brother Jewell Singer (Marsha) and their son, James and stepchildren Phil and Emily Siefken.
A Memorial Service will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Monday April 21, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Alan Pinkerton’s name to National Marfan Foundation www.marfan.org or in care of Resthaven Funeral Home, 8426 S. Hwy 287, Fort Collins, CO 80525
