Angelia Bethea Dimond

She was born Angelia Bethea Watson in Dillon, SC on May 18, 1929. She grew up in Rowland, NC surrounded by fruit trees and a large vegetable garden.

At 21, she graduated from nursing school and soon thereafter joined the USAF where she earned the commission of Second Lieutenant and later was honorably discharged. She met her first husband in the service. Subsequently they were stationed all over the U.S. and Ottawa, Canada. As a nurse, Ann could find work wherever she went and did so for 50 years. With two kids in tow, she lightened their many moves by making them laugh. After retirement from nursing in Davis, CA, Ann moved to Fort Collins to be near her son, Jim. Ann volunteered at two jobs for UCHealth and one at the Senior Center (all at the same time) where she was given the award of Volunteer Hero: Dedicated Senior.

She loved Jeopardy, Bingo, Bunco and winning. Lucky people would receive a genuine Ann Dimond pecan pie. Dairy Queen would call out her name as she drove past. She’d walk daily only slowed by chats with neighbors. Dressing up for Halloween was a must whether she was Queen Elizabeth or Dolly Parton. She loved eating out. Catfish and turnip greens.

She enjoyed being with her son, Jim, and his friends. Breakfast, out of course, was regularly on the schedule. Jim’s friends became her friends.

Daughter, Becky, considered Ann her best friend. Every time they talked on the phone Becky hung up laughing. Those moments will be greatly missed.

Ann was fun and funny. A fantastic storyteller with all the humorous details and gestures. Ann leaves her daughter, Becky and her husband, Ken. Also, her sister, Charlotte.

She is predeceased by her son, Jim Canary, her parents and five brothers and sisters.

People passing Ann’s home would always wave. They knew she was watching. Lots of friends. Lots of waves. So, if you pass a stranger, give a little wave and think of Ann. You may make a new friend.
