Art was born March 3, 1931 in Berthoud, Colorado. Art and his siblings were raised in Loveland, Colorado and he attended Loveland High School. Art went on to become a Sergeant in the Army serving from 1951-1954. Art actively served in the Korean War, being honorably discharged after he was injured. After returning home, he drove truck for Interstate Motor Systems while working in his spare time repairing cars for friends and family. Finding his true passion, he retired from truck driving and went on to open his own auto repair business which he and his wife owned and operated in Commerce City until his final retirement in 2001.
Art married Mary Boyer in 1974 in Brighton, Colorado. Art is survived by his children, Arthur (Artie) Aguilar Jr, Kenneth Aguilar, Shawn Aguilar, Terra Aguilar, Doraine Knight and Julian Croix; as well as many grandchildren and several great children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Rosa; his siblings, Sam, Louise, Joe, Rose, Paul and Pete; his wife, Mary J Aguilar; and daughters, Janet and Stacy.
Art and his wife Mary did foster care for several years and took many children into their home throughout the years. He always had a heart for broken children in need and would do anything to help all who needed a hand up. Art helped coach youth football for over 20 years, helping lead his team, The Green Bay Packers, to the “superbowl” where they won!
Art had a passion for cars and restored several over the years. These include his pride and joys, a beautiful hot rod roadster and a classic 45 sedan. He often told the story that cars were truly his first loves. Throughout his life and even more in retirement he enjoyed traveling by RV with his family across the country and took every opportunity to join anyone fishing. Over the years, he had many faithful fishing partners and knew all the secret "honey holes".
