Barbara Ruth Thiemann (Babs), 88, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2024 with family by her side. She was born to parents Morton and Eleanor Fairchild in 1935. Babs met Ralph her husband and the love of her life in high school. They were married on May 14th, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois and she passed away just three months short of their 70th Anniversary! Together they raised 3 children: Scott, Jeff and Linda. She is survived by her husband, children, 4 grand and many great grandchildren and was preceded in death by her sister Joan.
After visiting a Colorado dude ranch in her teens, she knew she wanted to move out west as an adult. She married Ralph and they moved to Colorado to work and raise their family.
Babs loved Jesus and kept an ongoing prayer list. As a faithful member of the Methodist Church, she was active singing in church choir and participating in women's groups. Babs enjoyed her family, reading, playing piano, cooking, painting and gardening. She was honored by the Paletteer's Art Club.
Babs’ passion was loving all animals, especially her dogs! She supported many animal causes. She proudly donated safety vests to K-9 units, as she felt they were often overlooked in their dangerous duties.
Working after her children were mostly raised as a secretary for many years, she retired from Ball Brothers. She and Ralph traveled with a NUMC group towing trailers and vacationed in many other places before settling down in Sierra Vista, AZ. She then returned to Colorado with Ralph in 2017 as care needs increased, and moved to Good Samaritan, Fort Collins in 2023 where she went to meet the LORD. Ralph now lives in Thornton.
A Memorial Service will be held at Northglenn United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life ceremony March 30th at 11 AM at the church, with a reception to follow. Pastor Tom will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Denver Dumb Friends League or an animal shelter of your choice. To share condolences online, visit Barbara's obituary on Allnutt Funeral.
