

1948. He took part in the Berlin Airlift in addition to tours in Germany, England, Scotland, Ireland, North Africa, Turkey, Bermuda and the Azores throughout his 22 years of military service.
During his first tour of England he met and married Beatrice Smith, with whom he had four children, Bernard Jr, Robert, Deborah and David. Bernard Jr and David reside in Ft Collins, Robert, in New Jersey and Deborah, in the UK. He is also survived by his sister, Agnes, of South Bend, Indiana, along with five grand-children and two great grand-children. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Elmer and Ethel, his wife, Beatrice and brother Donald.
‘Bernie’ enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf. As a gun enthusiast he was part of a five member team who, in 1968, took first place in the USAFE Security Police Rifle-Revolver Championship in Wiesbaden,
Germany.
After retiring from the USAF in 1971 he joined the security department of Eastman Kodak in Windsor, Colorado, from where he retired in 1990.
Bernie was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association, American Legion, VFW and the local Fort Collins Moose Lodge.
