This man came into our lives when Chuck and Tami were 10 and 9 years old. Dave instantly went from being a single guy to family man. He took us in and nurtured us. He supported us. He guided us. And, he believed in us (well, most of the time). Dave loved us and our mom with all he had. He was stubborn, funny, kind, and ornery. Oh, did he love a good argument! He didn’t like crowds, but he loved his family and dear friends. Dave was proud of the life he provided for his family. He was especially proud of his five grandkids, each of whom he had an individual special bond with.
Papa gave all of his grandkids personal nicknames and engaged in their interests. He played video games, sang songs, and helped them all learn to drive, just to name a few. He also took them on numerous family vacations (the rest of the family came along, as well). Papa enjoyed cooking breakfast for his grandkids and, most recently, sharing a good whiskey with them. He was a hell of cook and could make the perfect Manhattan and Margarita. Although no one could ever quite get things right enough for Papa, we all knew he only wanted the very best for each of us.
Dave was a member of the Army Reserves, where he proudly served his country. He went to college and received his teaching degree, but he was an entrepreneur at heart. Dave began selling automobiles and vacuums and went on to own and operate his own insurance agency in Eagle Grove, Iowa, where he later brought in a close friend to be his partner. His greatest business achievement was starting Shippers Supply Inc with his wife, Mary, by his side. Today, 40 years later, Dave and Mary’s kids, Chuck Jordan and Tami Elliott, proudly carry on the family business and their father's legacy of making people happy.
Dave leaves behind a family that loves him dearly and is survived by his wife of 42 years, Mary Golbuff, his son Chuck Jordan (Angie), his daughter Tami Elliott (Todd) and by his five grandkids, Skylar Jordan, Kyle Elliott, Jaiden Jordan, Paige Elliott, and Luc Jordan. He was preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Bessie Golbuff, two brothers and their wives, Dale Golbuff (Joanne) and Gary Golbuff (Sharon), and by his nephew, Brad Golbuff. He will be remembered by numerous family members, friends and business associates.
Family and friends are invited to a Service of Remembrance on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at 2:00pm at Resthaven Funeral Home in Fort Collins, followed by the Rendering of Military Honors at 2:45pm and a Celebration of Life Gathering from 3:00pm to 4:30pm. We ask that you come ready with stories to share. In lieu of flowers, we suggest making a donation in Dave’s name to your favorite charity.
Our family is shattered and heartbroken over this sudden, unexpected loss. There is a void that will never be filled. To you Papa, until we meet again, we will continue to “See the people. Make them happy!” We will continue to make you proud and most importantly, we will take care of mom!
