Dean D. Ziem

Dean D. Ziems, 82, of Loveland passed away on July 11, 2009 at Sierra Vista Healthcare Center in Loveland. He was born on January 29, 1927 in Elwood, NE to Henry C. and Mary M. (Grafe) Ziems. He attended school in Arapahoe, NE. He married Dora Osborn on February 4, 1948 in Keystone, NE. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation which brought him to Colorado in 1950. He then worked for Knox Chevrolet (later Davidson's Chevrolet) for over 40 years as a mechanic. He was past president of the Babe Ruth Little League and past president of the Foot and Fiddle Dance Club. He loved to fish and bowl and was a member of the King of Glory Lutheran Church. He is survived by his former wife, Dora Ziems of Loveland; sons, Robert D. (Jeanine) Ziems of Fort Collins, David M. (Susan) Ziems of Loveland, and Jon (Tonya) Ziems of Loveland; daughters, Barbara M. Holtz of Loveland and Linda (Glen) Helzer of Loveland; grandson, Jason Helzer of Westminster, 6 other grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, George, a grandson, Rodney Ziems, 6 brothers and 5 sisters. Visitation will be held from 2:00 â?? 4:00 p.m. Sunday July 19. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home. Interment Resthaven Memory Gardens, followed by a reception at the Resthaven Reception Center.
