Delbert (Del) Carl Helzer

Del was born on October 13, 1937 on a farm east of Fort Collins to Carl Helzer and Freda (Hettinger). Del graduated from Timnath High School in 1955. After graduation Del enlisted in the Navy. He served as an Electricians Mate aboard the repair ship USS Tutuila based out of Norfolk, VA. On December 14, 1958 Del married Donna Anderson in Greeley, CO. Son Dean was born on December 7, 1959 in Colorado Springs and daughter Della was born in Greeley on January 19, 1965. In 1977 Del went into partnership, starting Aspen Construction in Fort Collins. Del enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles, fishing, playing poker with 5 of his buddies, watching the Broncos, and spending time with his family. Del and Donna enjoyed traveling.

Survivors include wife Donna, son Dean (Megan) Helzer of Fort Collins, daughter Della (Hector) Acevedo of Aurora, grandsons Brenton and Aiden Helzer and Miguel Acevedo, brother Larry (Debbie) Helzer of Greeley, nieces Karalea and Colleen Helzer and grand-niece Brooke Helzer, all of Greeley.

All services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home & Memory Gardens in Fort Collins. Visitation will be Monday November 13 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Funeral and interment services will be Tuesday November 14 at 1:00pm.
