Douglas Rae Bielefeld

Born on December 24, 1950, in Mason City, IA, to David Martin Bielefeld and Eleanor Rae Thompson, Doug grew up working on the family farm in Rockwell, IA. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea, before being stationed in Fort Carson where he was eventually honorably discharged. On May 21, 1977, Doug married Gayle Pickard in Iowa, and the couple moved to Ft Collins, CO a few years afterward. Doug had a passion for hunting and fishing, often enjoying trips with family and friends, and was always willing to share his skills and knowledge with others.

Doug is survived by his wife, Gayle; his daughter, Kristan (Nate) Miller; granddaughters Allie and Savannah; his brother, Ted Bielefeld; his brother, Todd (Deb) Bielefeld; and his sister, Barbara (Robert) Lundt. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial will be held on May 9 at his daughter's home in Windsor, CO, where friends and family are invited to gather and share memories. An additional celebration of life will be arranged in Iowa in June. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Douglas Bielefeld.
