He passed in Larimer County, Colorado, a place that reflects the freedom and beauty he so deeply appreciated. John was a longtime resident of Longmont, Colorado.
John lived life with curiosity, passion, and an unmistakable love for learning. He was deeply intellectual, always reading, always expanding his knowledge, and never content to stop growing. He dedicated his professional life to the University of Colorado Boulder, where he served as Associate Director of Mechanical and Structural Trades. His work was not just a career but a reflection of his sharp mind, integrity, and commitment to excellence.
Outside of work, John’s heart belonged to the road. He loved working on his motorcycles and found peace and joy in riding them. Some of his most treasured moments were spent on motorcycle trips with his son, Johnathan, sharing stories, miles, and a bond that words could never fully capture. Most recently, John traveled to Costa Rica with his son, a journey he cherished deeply and spoke of with pride and gratitude. That trip, and the memories created there, meant more to him than anything. He was honored with the “Best Ride” award, a fitting recognition for someone who truly lived life in motion.
John is survived by his parents, Dwayne and Lee Gleason; his children, Johnathan Gleason, Emily McCary, and Nicole Pico; and his siblings, Jill Cleveland and Robert Gleason. He was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on January 24, 2026, 11am at the Elks Lodge in Longmont, Colorado. Further service information will be available through his family.
John will be remembered for his brilliant mind, his love of the open road, and the way he embraced life with intention, adventure, and heart. His legacy lives on in the memories he created, the miles he rode, and the people who loved him.
