Judy had a happy childhood, full of fun and adventure. A few of her happiest memories included riding all the way to Manzanola, Colorado in the rumble seat of her parent’s Model T with her cousin Joann, or spending the day with her daddy, fixing things in the garage. Judy attended school in both Denver and Littleton, going to Grant Junior High School and graduating from Littleton High school in 1958.
She met her first husband, David L. Parker when she attended Grant Junior High School. In high school they began dating and their senior year they were voted Prom King and Queen together. Right after high school, they married and had 3 children - Scott (1959), Tim (1961), and Tracey (1965). Their marriage came to an end after 14 years. The years leading up to their divorce were difficult, but Judy handled them with perseverance and dignity, supporting her 3 children alone. She became a hair stylist to make ends meet.
Within a year, Judy met and married the love of her life, David Tawney. They were the perfect compliment to each other and in 2022, they celebrated their 50th anniversary! Judy was an incredible cook and mastered her secret green chili recipe. She also hosted big family dinners often. During this time, and in order to be home more, Judy became a lunch lady at North Elementary School and then at Centennial Elementary School in Littleton. She was known for making the BEST cinnamon rolls in town!
Dave and Judy lived in Littleton for 24 years and then moved to Fort Collins in 1996. This is when both Dave and Judy began volunteering at Poudre Valley Hospital and would go on to become PVH Volunteer Board Members. Judy also enjoyed volunteering at Johnson Elementary School where her nickname was, “Doris Day,” by staff because she was like a ray of sunshine! Judy also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.
It is difficult to fully encapsulate our beloved mother’s life with words. She was a happy force and that legacy lives on in the smiling eyes that she handed down to many of her family members. She is survived by her son Scott Parker (Littleton) and her daughter Tracey Clark ( Ron) Fort Collins, as well as her grandchildren, Tyler Parker (Jessica) of Texas, Nick Parker (Littleton), and Kylee, Molly and Dan Clark (Fort Collins). Judy also delighted in her 3 great-granddaughters, Piper Pfau and Halliee and Emma Parker. She is preceded in death by her husband Dave and her son Tim.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Johnson Elementary School JPTO or Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado.
