Lupe Lemos-Sigward joined the Lord, her mother, father, grandparents and favorite dog on October 29, 2022. She was 68. While it broke her heart to leave her earthly home, Lupe lived a life filled with purpose and we hope when she stood before God she said with confidence, “I used every gift you gave me.”
Lupe was born on September 23, 1954, in Fort Collins, Colo., to Mary V. and Ray G. Lemos, Sr. In 1981, Lupe married Gerald (Jerry) Sigward. Lupe and Jerry recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary and knew each other for 50 years. In 1986, they welcomed a daughter, Carissa.
Lupe was a life-long learner and completed bachelor’s, master’s and post-graduate studies at Colorado State University. She touched many lives throughout her career as an educator at Poudre School District, Saint Joseph Catholic School and Colorado State University. Lupe served on numerous committees, coordinated many programs and had many achievements throughout her career. In earlier years, Lupe also worked at Larimer County and Anheuser-Busch, Inc. At retirement, Lupe’s professional experience spanned 40 years.
Lupe had a strong commitment to volunteer work, spending time working in the Catholic community, Poudre Valley Hospital, Colorado State University and Poudre Fire Authority. She served in religious capacities, worked with the homeless, coordinated fundraising and special events, and assisted with organization needs. Lupe continuously found a way to use her time and talent to help others.
Lupe placed her family as a top-priority. Her role as a daughter, wife and mother always came first. This was a value that did not go unrecognized, a value to be admired and a value she instilled in Carissa. She never missed an important event, special day, appointment or emergency phone call. Whatever it was, family came first, always.
Lupe is survived by her husband, Jerry, and daughter, Carissa. She also leaves behind numerous siblings, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A rosary will be recited at Holy Family Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will take place Thursday, November 10 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery. A reception will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service-Drake Road Chapel Family Center.
In honor of Lupe’s favorite color, please wear lavender or purple to her services.
Well done, my good and faithful servant.
