Maria Ann Tighe

Mary was born in Kingston NY to Anthony and Julia Cusher in a modest home where she lived with her family including her three siblings until she married her husband John Tighe on September 21,1958.

Until that time she was somewhat of a rebel, breaking norms as a single working woman who worked as a seamstress during WWII and later an assembly member at IBM. In fact, it was Mary who helped John get hired on at IBM working in Kingston and in 1966, moving to Boulder CO, where they lived until shortly after they retired in 1985.

They traveled together around the world and the US and have a library of photo albums documenting their life and adventures together.

They moved to Fort Collins CO in 1987 where they lived together until 2015 when John passed and Mary moved to her daughter and Son-In-Law Doug Cross’ home in Fort Collins where she was loved and cared for until the end.

She had three stepchildren Patricia whom she did not raise, and sons Johnny and Tim who she raised from young boys to grown men. She had two biological children, son Richard and daughter Ann Margaret (Annie) and her children were the loves of her life and reason for all that she did. She has 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Sadly, Mary is preceded in death by nearly all those she loved most except her sister Beatrice, son Tim and her daughter Ann Margaret to whom she passed on her love for entertaining friends and family, cooking delicious meals, and strong margaritas.

As a lifelong devoted Catholic, Mary’s Funeral Mass will be held at her church of the last 40 years, Saint Joseph’s on Tuesday January 21, 2025 at 9:30. For anyone who wishes to say their final goodbyes, please arrive 20 minutes prior to the service starting. Immediately after her service will be followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery. However, a promised celebration of her life will be held on April 26th, 2025, beginning at her gravesite, followed by margaritas and a 100th birthday commemoration at her daughter and son-in-law's home, which all who knew her are welcomed to attend.
